This light and airy gallery with both wall and free standing space, makes it ideal for exhibiting a wide range of mediums including paintings, textiles, sculptures and photography.
Chequer Mead offers great commercial and community rates*, making it an attractive and affordable exhibition space in the heart of Sussex. It is estimated that 80,000 people visit Chequer Mead each year, guaranteeing a steady flow of visitors through the centre and exposing your work to broad spectrum of people. The Greenstede Gallery is available to hire on a week basis only and runs from Thursday to Wednesday to include the weekend (Please note the centre is not open on Sundays). Private view sessions are also available upon request.
Renovation
The Greenstede Gallery had major renovation works completed in 2009, equipping it with a professional, energy efficient lighting system designed specifically for the space. This renovation also saw the gallery’s original parquet floor restored to its full Victorian glory through the help of many sponsors and supporters. These included Mid Sussex District Council, West Sussex County Council, Gatwick Airport Community Trust, Chequer Mead Friends, Dave Holden of Brambletye School and the family of Keith Brown who are life time supporters of the centre.

In addition to the Greenstede Gallery, we have a smaller exhibition space located along a glass corridor overlooking the centre’s garden. The Garden Gallery is an ideal solution for smaller exhibitions of pictures, paintings and textiles - this exhibition space has the advantage of running along the back of our main house auditorium and consequently gets a lot of exposure from patrons visiting theatre performances.
