Tappers - here's your chance to go 'Stepping Out'
EGOS bring the hit comedy to Chequer Mead stage in January and directors Leigh Wheatley and Krys Kennard will be looking to cast 10 tapping ladies and one ‘Geoffrey’ at auditions in September. “All abilities are welcome the whole cast must all be able to tap dance in the first place, to make it look like they can’t, which is where the cast’s acting skills will be tested.” says Leigh, who also hopes to encounter a real piano playing ‘Mrs Fraser’. There will be a Launch Evening at Chequer Mead on Monday 1st September, when pieces will be available for the auditions which will be held during the first 2 weeks of September . Your Theatre Needs YOU
Chequer Mead is looking for more volunteers to support its busy autumn season of entertainment, so if you’ve got a couple of hours to spare, anytime, and however few, we want to hear from you. No experience is necessary, and volunteers can be stewards, work behind the bar or in the Box office. It really is up to you when you come in because a list of events is put out well in advance, so how about mixing something really useful with enjoying a good night out. The NEW Chequer Mead Youth Theatre
In September we are looking forward to welcoming on board Pete Allen as the new leader of the popular Chequer Mead Youth Theatre. This follows the sad departure of Deborah Ellis who has run the group for two years and is leaving to take up new exciting projects in theatre world. Pete trained as a director at Rose Bruford College and has worked with numerous theatre companies including the Deptford Albany and the Wimbledon Theatre.
