In addition to ‘Ill Met By Moonlight’ & ‘The Big Picture’, Whirlygig will be running ‘First Stage’, a one hour session each morning from the 2nd-6th & 9th-13th of August for children aged 5-7, offering an introduction to drama and storytelling through games and simple theatre skills. ILL MET BY MOONLIGHT-SHAKESPEARE AND THE MAGICAL WORLD
2nd-6th August, 11am-3pm 8-18 year olds
Whirlygig Arts in association with Chequer Mead Arts Centre present a week long exploration of Shakespeare in performance. Using the themes of magic, power and ambition in Shakespeare’s plays young people will be encouraged to release their energy, free their voices, to listen, to think and to be creative. Using excerpts from Shakespeare, young people will create a performance on the final day that will explore the connections between Shakespeare’s theatre and storytelling, and help develop imagination and self confidence. SUMMER SCHOOL 2010 – ”BROADWAY” MUSICAL WORKSHOP
2nd – 14th August
Two weeks of workshops culminating in two public performances of an original production. Summer school is open to all keen performers aged between 7 and 21. For more information call 07843 201 447. Following the success of ‘Benjamin Perdido’s Unplanned Adventure’ the summer school team returns with ‘My Life: The Musical’. A lively Broadway inspired musical set in present day New York. An average man finds himself at the centre of a musical all about him, simple tasks become an altogether nightmarish challenge as his neighbours, friends, family and even the girl who makes his coffee all play a part in his rather public existence. Not to be missed.

Cinema's biggest names learned their skills by making their own films while they were young. Here is a chance to start that process today, with a practical exploration of directing, screenwriting, cinematography and visual effects – not by reading about it, but by doing it.
